Kyra Minturn

 Kyra Minturn Sedgwick (born August 19, 1965) is an American actor, producer and director. She is best known for portraying the role of Deputy Chief Brenda Leigh Johnson (TVN crime drama The Closer). Sedgwick was awarded two Emmy Awards in 2010 as well as 2007 for her portrayal Johnson. The show ended on August 13, 2012, following the completion of the seventh season. Sedgwick is also well-known for her recurring role in Brooklyn Nine-Nine's sitcom Madeline Wuntch. Sedgwick received the Golden Globe Award for her performance in Something to Talk About (1995). Sedgwick's other roles in films include Oliver Stone's Born of the Fourth of July (1989) as well as Cameron Crowe's The Ones (1992) as well as Heart and Souls (1993), Phenomenon (1996) as well as What's cooking (2000) and Secondhand Lions (2003). The Game Plan (2007) and The Possession (2013). Sedgwick was born in New York City, the daughter of Patricia (nee Rosenwald), a speech teacher and educational/family therapist , and Henry Dwight Sedgwick V, an investor in venture capital. Her mother, who was Jewish was of English and Episcopalian origins. Sedgwick has publicly declared her Jewish heritage and has said she takes part in Passover seders.
